Suzy and the Mermaid Dream π§♀️
Suzy was absolutely fazed by mermaids. She had all sorts of mermaid-themed collections such as hair clips, hairbands, t-shirts, shoes, bags, and the list went on and on. Every time her granny visited, the collection grew bigger and more sparkly, always with something new that fit her mermaid obsession.
Her mom giggled and said, “Well, wish you luck sweetheart!”
After finding the perfect spot, Suzy’s dad and brother set up the tent, foldable chairs and a small desk. Suzy helped her mom arrange the food, drinks, and other picnic essentials like chips, sandwiches, and those little juice boxes that always spill everywhere.
After a quick snack break, Suzy sprinted towards the water, eager to see the waves crashing on the shore. She prayed to meet a mermaid.
As she was playing in the water, the excitement took over, and she didn’t realize just how far she had drifted. Her toes could no longer touch the bottom. Panic started to set in, but her swimming lessons kicked in. She remembered how to float, even though she wasn’t in a pool. She took a deep breath, stretched out, and managed to keep herself afloat just like her coach had taught her.
She raised her hands, waving for help, but to her dismay, no one seemed to notice. The waves kept pushing her further out, and she felt like she was running out of strength. This is it, she thought, as her limbs grew weak and the water rose higher.
Just as she felt herself sinking, something amazing happened. Out of the blue, a beautiful mermaid swam toward her! The mermaid was shimmering in the sunlight, with long flowing aqua-blue hair, glistening scales that reflected every color of the rainbow, and a tail that sparkled like the stars. She was the most beautiful thing Suzy had ever seen, and for a moment, Suzy forgot she was in danger.
The mermaid gently took Suzy’s hand and pulled her toward the shore. “You’re safe now,” the mermaid said, her voice as soft as a sea breeze.
Suzy was still in awe, her head spinning with disbelief. She could hear the mermaid’s hair swishing as she spoke. But Suzy was feeling dizzy, and before she knew it, her eyes fluttered shut.
The last thing she heard was the mermaid’s voice: “Wake up… wake up…” as she gently patted Suzy’s cheek.
Suzy’s eyes snapped open, and she found herself lying in her bed. “Suzy, wake up! It’s time to get ready for school!” her mom called from downstairs.
Suzy blinked and laughed to herself. “Oh no… it was a dream!” she chuckled, but then a huge grin spread across her face. She had met a mermaid, even if only in her dreams.
