Meena & Magee: Friends Forever π§π€π§
Meena and Magee were like inseparable twins. Ever since Meena moved to town, they had been in the same school, the same class, and even attended the same piano and singing classes. Wherever one went, the other followed. If you saw Meena, you could be sure Magee was nearby!
One afternoon, Meena came home and immediately felt something was wrong. Her mother sat on the couch, quietly sobbing, while her father stared out the window in deep thought.
Her heart started to race. What happened?
She quickly placed her school bag on her desk and rushed to her mother’s side. "Maa, what happened? Why do both of you look so sad?"
Her mother held Meena’s hand gently and sighed. "Meena… your dad got a transfer to another town, and he wants all of us to move there."
Meena froze. Not again!
Her eyes filled with tears. "Maa, Paa… I just made good friends here! And you know how close I am to Magee!" Her voice cracked as she shook her head. "No… not again!"
She covered her face with her hands and ran to her room, crying.
Meena’s mother looked at her father and sighed. "Go on… calm her down. Tell her it may take some time before we all move with you."
Meena’s father, Mannu, was a police officer. Because of his job, he had to move from place to place, and so far, they had relocated three times. He had hoped this would be their last move.
Mannu walked to Meena’s door and knocked gently. "Meena… open the door, please. I want to talk to you."
He knocked again, his voice firmer yet filled with emotion. "Meena… please, open the door."
After a moment, he heard the soft click of the lock. He turned the knob and opened the door. There was Meena, sitting on her bed, her face wet with tears.
He knelt beside her, holding her hands. "I know this is difficult, my dear. It is hard for all of us. But you need to understand… this is part of my work. I have to serve in different states"
Meena sniffled and looked at him, her lips trembling. "But, Pa… I have to leave my friends again."
Her father sighed and hugged her. "I understand dear."
Meena wrapped her arms around his neck, sobbing. He gently stroked her hair and whispered, "Come, freshen up and join us for lunch, okay?"
The next day at school, Meena told Magee about the move.
Magee’s eyes filled with tears. She grabbed Meena’s hands tightly. "No, Meena… please do not go! Come and stay with me instead!"
Meena sighed. "I wish I could… but I cannot."
The next few days felt heavy. Meena and Magee spent every moment together, but each minute felt like a countdown to goodbye.
Then, something unexpected happened.
One afternoon, Meena came home and saw her grandparents sitting in the living room, smiling at her.
Her face lit up instantly and a huge smile spread across her lips. "Paati! Thaatha!" she cried, dashing inside and throwing herself into her grandmother’s arms.
After lunch, her father cleared his throat. "I have some good news."
Meena looked at him, her heart pounding.
Her father smiled. "My transfer has been canceled. We are staying here for a long time."
For a moment, Meena just stared at him.
"WHAT?!".....She jumped up so fast that she nearly knocked over her plate. "We are STAYING?! No moving? No packing? No saying goodbye?!"
Her father laughed. "No moving."
Meena let out a loud scream of happiness, making even the neighbor’s cat jump in surprise.
She grabbed her phone and called Magee.
"MAGEE! We are NOT moving!"
On the other end, Magee screamed so loudly that Meena had to pull the phone away from her ear.
"BEST NEWS EVER! You are stuck with me forever!" Magee shouted.
Meena laughed, feeling like the happiest girl in the world. She was not just staying in her favorite school. She was staying with her best friend.
